What is a veneers?
Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin (0.3–0.5mm) ceramic shells permanently bonded to the front of your teeth. They're used to fix chips, stains, gaps, or minor crookedness. Typical "smile makeover" jobs cover 6–10 front teeth and run $9,000–$25,000 total. Prep-less veneers (Lumineers) are slightly less invasive but cost similar.
Why prices vary
These four factors explain most of the price differences you'll see.
- 1
Material
Porcelain ($1,200–$2,500/tooth) lasts 10–20 years. Composite ($400–$1,500/tooth) lasts 5–7 years.
- 2
Lab vs. chairside
Custom lab-made porcelain costs more than CEREC same-day milling, but tends to look more natural.
- 3
Number of teeth
Most clinics offer 10–20% off when doing 6+ veneers as a package.
- 4
Cosmetic dentist tier
AACD-accredited cosmetic dentists charge 25–50% more than general dentists.

What insurance usually covers
Veneers are classified as cosmetic and are almost never covered by dental insurance. HSA/FSA funds typically can't be used either. Many cosmetic dentists offer 0% in-house financing or CareCredit.
