Handling a delinquent patient account

When a patient misses payments past the cure period, you decide how to proceed — place the account with a collection agency, or pay the recourse balance and collect from the patient yourself. SmileShop never places accounts on your behalf; you choose and contract with the agency directly.

You choose and contract with the agency directly.

SmileShop is not a collection agency and does not place accounts on your behalf. The agencies below are vetted, HIPAA-compliant dental collection firms you can contact to start the process. SmileShop is not affiliated with any of them and receives no referral fees.

What to send the agency: when you place an account, SmileShop generates a collections packet — the signed patient payment agreement (PDF), the payment history ledger, and the financing analysis summary. The patient's original documents (ID, income proof) stay with your office; you can attach them to the agency's submission directly. (Packet generation is part of the delinquency flow, coming next.)
