Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of smileshop.ai and any related services (collectively, the "Platform"), operated by SmileShop PBC ("SmileShop," "we," "us"). By using the Platform you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Platform.

1. What SmileShop is — and isn't

SmileShop is an independent publisher and platform. We publish dental price information, plain-English education, and a directory of dental promotions submitted by dental offices and verified by our team. We are not a dental practice. We do not provide dental, medical, or professional advice. Nothing on the Platform is a substitute for diagnosis or treatment by a licensed dentist.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to use the Platform. By using SmileShop, you represent that you meet this requirement.

3. Content accuracy & no warranty

We work hard to keep prices, deals, and editorial content accurate and sourced. But:

• Prices and availability are set by independent dental offices and may change without notice.
• Deal listings come from patients and offices; we verify against the office's public website but cannot guarantee terms or honor.
• Editorial content is informational. Always confirm clinical questions with a licensed dentist.

The Platform is provided "as is" with no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

4. Deal submissions & verification

Deal listings are submitted by dental offices and reviewed by SmileShop before going live. By submitting a deal you represent that you are authorized to list the office, that the price and terms are accurate, and that the content is yours to share. You grant SmileShop a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, edit, and publish that content on the Platform and in related communications.

Once a deal is approved and verified, it is locked. Offices cannot edit the listing themselves. To change the price, expiry, description, or any other detail, the office must email hello@smileshop.ai and we will update it after re-verifying against the office's public source. This protects patients from bait-and-switch pricing.

We reserve the right to reject, edit, or remove submissions that are inaccurate, misleading, or violate these Terms — including unverifiable discounts and fake reviews.

5. Office Boost (paid placement)

Dental offices may purchase an optional Boost to feature their verified deal at the top of SmileShop search results, category pages, and cost-guide articles. The rules:

• Verification still required. Boost cannot buy a deal onto the platform — every deal (boosted or not) must pass the same verification check against the office's public website before it appears.
• Boosted deals are clearly marked. Boosted listings carry a visible "Boosted" or "Sponsored" badge wherever they appear.
• Boost does not affect editorial content or organic ranking. Cost guides, articles, and unboosted deal listings are produced and ranked independently of Boost spending.
• Flat pricing, no auto-renew. Boost is a one-time prepaid purchase at a flat monthly rate (see the Boost checkout for current price). When the paid period ends, the deal automatically returns to organic placement — there are no recurring charges.
• Refunds. Boost is consumed day-by-day as it runs, so you only pay for the days your deal was actually boosted:
  • Full refund if you cancel within 48 hours of checkout and your deal has not yet gone live.
  • Prorated refund of unused days if SmileShop removes your deal for a verification failure, technical issue, or platform error.
  • Prorated refund of unused days on request, if you ask us to stop a live boost early — email hello@smileshop.ai within 14 days of the request from the office email on file.
  • No refund for days the boost has already run, or for requests made more than 14 days after a boost ends.
  Refunds are issued to the original payment method via Stripe and typically arrive in 5–10 business days.
• Magic-link management. The email address used at checkout receives a private link to view the boost dashboard and renew. Keep this link confidential — anyone with it can manage the boost.

Any other affiliate or partner relationships, if added in the future, will be clearly disclosed on every page they appear.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent content (including fake deals or denial documents).
• Scrape or copy content beyond what's permitted by applicable law and our robots.txt.
• Interfere with the Platform's operation or attempt to bypass security.
• Use the Platform to harass, defame, or harm anyone.

7. Third-party services

We use third-party services (e.g., Stripe for payments, Resend for email). Your use of those services is governed by their own terms.

8. Intellectual property

Editorial content, branding, and code on the Platform are owned by SmileShop or our licensors, except where republished under an open license (e.g., CC-BY) with attribution.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SmileShop and its officers, contractors, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost savings or lost profits, arising from your use of the Platform. Our total liability to you for any claim will not exceed $100.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold SmileShop harmless from any claim arising from your violation of these Terms or your submissions to the Platform.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. The current version and date appear at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage or via email to subscribers.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
